Ladies and gentlemen. I have been
thinking about that text for a month (or month and a half) but there was always
something more important, easier and less controversial (there is a few people
here and I don’t want them to go away too…). I have been putting that away
until I will have enough courage to take it. Finally happened something
terrible and the war started from the beginning (again). I did not want to
write so rapidly, because I do not want to fall into group of those people who
complain about Israel, or those who cry that Israel is so criticized. Now, when
you read it, I genuinely hope that the explosions are gone and people stopped
dying by hundreds every day. I really hope that the situation is now stable and
calm…
Why I wanted to write that? Not
to criticize Israel. I wanted to do exactly opposite and I wanted to tell you
from the bottom of my heart that I actually like Israel. I came up to that
conclusion some time ago and why did I do that after so many years of fighting
for free Palestine (I even had two presentations, one in English and one in
Polish)? Well… First of all look at the history: Palestine was a country for
the first time when Israelites made their kingdom in the 11 century B.C. Before
that Palestine has been conquered many times by different kingdoms but there is
no document about independent country of Palestine. Also – based on ONZ
resolution no. 181, in Palestine were formed two countries: Jewish State and
Arabic State. Leaders of the Jewish community accepted the plan for the partition
of Palestine, but the Arabs rejected it, arguing that it violates the rights of
the majority of the population. As a result, on November 30th, 1947
erupted “Civil War in Palestine Mandate”, won by Israel. Historically, Israel
has the full right to the land, in which he is now...
In addition to the history I
have with me Niccolo Machiavelli. What does it mean? Israel is stronger and has
proved it many times. He does not have to depend on peace with the
Palestinians, because the opinions of the people of the world does not concern
him. In the Middle East, Israel must do only two things: secure peace with
Egypt and do not fret Abdullah, the king of Jordan. You have to consider the
possibility that 1967 could be repeated, only with a different result... what
Israel should do to end this whole unpleasant story? He has two options: 1) to use
tanks and just run over Palestinians and incorporate Gaza and the West Bank to
Israel, 2) cease to build more settlements in the West Bank and establish the
peace. For Machiavelli option 2) would not show any value...
And now I am going to tell you
why this text is not only a hymn of praise to Israel. First of all, history:
the Hebrews, Israelites, were not the first who took this land and Palestine
does not belong to them (they came about thirteen hundreds years after the
first inhabitants of the Palestine area). In addition, the name "Palestine"
is derived from the Philistines (who by the way established and inhabited Gaza
City)... Anyway, that's not all. Palestinian Arabs were given the land in
accordance with Resolution no. 181 and now in accordance with any law of this
earth they have the right to defend their own country. True, they are shooting at
Israel and blowing up cars, homes and military outposts. But there are
confirmed cases, when the Israeli army was shooting at Israel from the other
side of the border (yes, they were shooting from Palestine to targets in Israel
in order to make a provocation). Additionally, Qassam rockets (the simple rockets
used by Hamas) usually do not cause any harm to Israel. If you read the reports
usually there is one, maybe two injured people, but no one killed. As
retaliation from time to time, Israel carry out a campaign against Gaza and
with the help of ultra-modern and ultra-accurate technology is destroying
homes, schools, mosques, hospitals, offices, water supply etc. etc. Killed are
children, women and old people! In Operation Cast Lead, in 2008, 14 Israelis and
1,350 Palestinians were killed. On the Palestine side it includes hundreds of
women and children.
Israel can be liked, you can
support him, and you can push the idea that Palestine belongs to him. But only
in the time of peace, in the intervals between successive operations against
Gaza. For when these campaigns are starting every sane person should be scared
of the news of killed civilians. Hundreds of dead and wounded civilians...
